Abstract

High-Energy Gamma Rays
I will cover space-based high energy gamma-ray astrophysics, focusing on the two instruments
on the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. We will start by covering gamma-ray detection
techniques, instrument design considerations and analysis methods - taking care to tie these
to the science questions we wish to address. We will then review the key results from Fermi
and conclude with a discussion of the new science opportunities that will arise as Fermi
continues to collect data over the next few years.
